Eve and Villanelle have returned for the third season of the hit BBC drama Killing Eve. The Golden Globe-winning series, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, started out very much based in London but soon branched out to a wide array of locations. Season three is no different, and the production team flew to a couple of new destinations for filming.

After filming scenes in Paris, Bucharest, Berlin and Tuscany, as well as the Greater London area, the production team turned to Spain for season three. Jodie Comer’s Villanelle has a beautiful new apartment in Barcelona, one that acts as her “headquarters” for the season. The stunning colours and architecture of the capital of Catalonia definitely make for a breathtaking backdrop to the drama.

There are also several scenes set in Russia, even though the production team didn’t actually go there. The “Russian" scenes were filmed in the Romanian village of Viscri, a Unesco World Heritage site as part of the “villages with fortified churches in Transylvania”. The Prince of Wales bought an 18th-century house in Viscri (and one in the nearby village of Mălâncrav) in 2006 to restore and use as a guesthouse to promote the area’s way of life to tourists.

Actress Sandra Oh has also talked about filming some scenes in New Malden, London’s Koreatown and one of the largest communities of South Koreans in Europe.
