About Carolyn
Wilderness exploration, biodiversity and climate change issues, and solo travel are my passions. I offer engaging stories, a deep understanding of environmental issues, professional travel expertise, and an insider view of the Americas and US National Parks.
My work has appeared in BBC Magazine, National Geographic, Outside, Boston Globe, and other publications. A former Fulbright fellow and Banff Mountain Grant recipient, I have documented life in some of the most remote corners of Latin America. ABC's Nightline profiled my travels in Panama for Lonely Planet.
After decades of exploring and an ongoing presence abroad, I seek to shed light on local perspectives. I've studied environmental concerns, cultural loss and the impact of travel in depth. I gained extensive on-the-ground experience writing 50+ guidebooks for Lonely Planet. For Trekking in the Patagonian Andes I hiked Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego mostly solo. Today I also work with environmental organizations to curb biodiversity loss and promote conservation and sustainable travel.
