About Jack
For me, it all began with a borrowed Lonely Planet guidebook in a Welsh university dorm room. A guidebook to Thailand, to be exact.
The snaps of sweeping golden sands, coupled with the witty musings of the authors, convinced me of the necessity to scrabble together the funds for a flight to Asia. The resulting trip would sow the seeds of a career in travel journalism, ultimately leading to an in-house role at Lonely Planet’s London office, first as an Assistant Editor and then Digital Editor, between 2017 and 2020.
In the years since I’ve continued to write for Lonely Planet, as well as produce articles for brands including National Geographic and BBC Travel (with a story for the latter featuring in The Best British Travel Writing of the 21st Century anthology). I’ve also branched out into environment-focused reporting for publications like Positive News, and turned my hand to fiction writing, working with Disney.
My weakness for Thai beaches, however, remains as strong as ever.
