About Luke
Luke Waterson originally hails from Southwest England but realized early on that he felt equally at home wherever a long-haul flight, long-distance bus, or long stint at the roadside waiting for a lift would take him! Now a Mid-Wales-based travel writer specializing in adventure and culinary travel, especially in the UK outdoors, Scandinavia, and South America, he has been writing for Lonely Planet since 2009. In that time, he has authored or contributed to over 70 Lonely Planet travel guidebooks and reference books. He's happiest very far from the nearest road or WiFi connection, either hiking, biking, or trail running. He also writes for publications including BBC Travel, the Telegraph, and Adventure.com and, in other projects, has written two novels and the first-ever widlife-watching walk book to accompany the BBC Springwatch TV series.
