About Shafik
Shafik is an award-winning travel writer, journalist and author based in South London. He has worked on all seven continents, but specialises in Latin America and Asia.
Recent adventures have taken him through the Amazon, across to Easter Island and down to Antarctica. A co-author of more than 40 guidebooks for Rough Guides and DK Eyewitness, Shafik writes for publications such as BBC Travel, Wanderlust and Atlas Obscura, as well as Lonely Planet. His new book, Crossed off the Map: Travels in Bolivia, is out in 2022.
