About Wendy
Wendy serendipitously landed her dream job of writing for Lonely Planet in 2003 and has spent the intervening years covering destinations from Vietnam and West Papua to Ecuador and Cuba. For work and pleasure, she has traveled six continents (still waiting on Antarctica) and lived on three.
Top experiences include hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim, rafting Nile whitewater, trekking on a Patagonian glacier, spotting pink river dolphins in the Amazon, and sitting with mountain gorillas in Uganda. She believes that travel, even armchair/front porch/backyard travel, is a means to understanding that we and the environment are all inextricably connected.
