Jasper grew up as a railway town, and the train station (constructed by the Canadian National Railway) is one of its oldest and most attractive buildings. Designed in an unusual 'arts and crafts meets national park' architectural style, it was completed in 1925 to blend into its rustic surroundings. The interior has been upgraded, but remains sympathetic to railroad's golden era, with heavy wooden benches and art-deco travel posters.
