An island sanctuary with hot springs and trails, Parque Nacional Isla Magdalena makes an engaging trip for adventurers, but there is little infrastructure from Conaf and boat hire is expensive. Acces is via Puerto Cisnes, an industrial salmon-farming area 35km west of the Carretera Austral linked by a paved road. Buses from La Junta (three hours) arrive here daily.
