Off the main road between Kranidi and Epidavros, near the village of Didyma, are the Didyma Caves – two extraordinary sinkholes. They collapsed thousands of years ago, leaving large craters in the earth. One hides an unexpected surprise – a tiny Byzantine church, Agios Georgios, constructed under a crevice. The other is a haven for nesting birds. The caves are well signposted.
