Moni Agiou Vissarion

Meteora & Thessaly

Founded during the 16th century, Moni Agiou Vissarion sustained heavy damage during the Greek struggle for independence, though its central church still holds some wonderful frescoes. High on the flanks of Mt Koziakas, it’s reached by crossing the river bridge from Pyli, turning right, and then following signs up the hill on your left. Only men are allowed to enter.
