This statue commemorates the late Sir Colin Meads, a legendary captain of the All Blacks, and regarded as one of New Zealand's finest rugby players. Nicknamed 'Pinetree', and a lifelong resident of Te Kuiti and the King Country, Sir Colin's laconic and pragmatic demeanour means he's also fondly remembered as the quintessential Kiwi – a 'good bugger' in local parlance.
