Italian nun releases Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’

Sister Cristina, a young nun who won this year’s Italian edition of ‘The Voice’ has surprised many by choosing to release a cover of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ as her first single. Cristina claims that, ‘If you read the lyrics without being influenced by what has gone before, you discover that it is a song about the capacity of love to make people new again.’ However, the Italian Bishops' News Agency criticised her choice, saying that it is the result of a ‘reckless and calculated commercial operation’.
