The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has said that reports of two lions seen in Nairobi recently were false.

The organisation made the statement after a thorough search of the Ngong road forest, the area where a truck driver had reportedly sighted two big cats. This erroneous report did, however, appear just ten days after at least four lions were said to have escaped from nearby Nairobi National Park. A KWS spokesperson noted that it was thought all the previously unaccounted for felines had returned. An estimated 30 lions live in the 117-sq-km park, which sits on the southern limit of Kenya’s capital city. Read more: bbc.co.uk
