An incredible 24-seater commercial submarine has been unveiled that will be able to bring passengers beneath the waves to explore the ocean in a compelling and unique way.

Created by Triton, the DeepView 24 has been hailed as one of the most significant advances in commercial submarining over the last 20 years. The first completed model has been delivered to Vinpearl Resorts in Vietnam for use on Hon Tre Island off the coast of Nha Trang in the near future.

“The Triton DeepView 24 with its panoramic view represents a quantum leap forward in submarine technology, providing a vastly-improved, fully-immersive guest experience. The variation in size, with models that will seat from six to 66 passengers means there is a sub suitable for a wide range of operators in different locations. And a DeepView experience is terrific for encouraging guests to promote environmental stewardship after directly experiencing the sea-floor environment,” Triton CEO and co-founder Bruce Jones told Lonely Planet.

The modular 50-foot long submersibles have acrylic sections that can be configured to different sizes for different groups, and have large windows on all sides to allow for maximum viewing while the submarine is under the water. Designed to sit steady while on the surface of the water, the vessel is virtually silent and non-polluting, producing no carbon emissions. The submarines were put to the test in a series of sea trials in Barcelona last March.

Vinpearl Resort planned to launch ticketed dives for guests to explore beneath the waves in the DeepView 24 from December 2020 on, with COVID19 possibly having an impact on when the experience can be rolled out safely and effectively.
