Heart of Cape Town Museum

Cape Town

Booking a two-hour guided tour is the only way you can see the very theatre in Groote Schuur Hospital where history was made in 1967 when Dr Christiaan Barnard and his team carried out the world's first successful heart-transplant operation (sadly, the recipient died a few days later). The displays have a fascinating Dr Kildare–quality to them.

Transfers to and from your hotel can also be arranged.
